The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday announced a tie-up with JSW Group as another sponsor for its contingent. Indian Super League team Bangalore FC is also owned by JSW Group. As per this agreement, the JSW Group has promised Rs 1 crore as sponsor money to IOA.
IOA President Narinder Batra and Secretary General Rajeev Mehta said in a joint statement, “We are happy to inform you about yet another sponsorship offer. Following the notice issued by us on 17th June, we confirm the agreement with JSW Group for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.”
“JSW Group CEO Parth Jindal has confirmed to give us Rs 1 crore,” he said.
The IOA on Thursday appointed mobile gaming platform MPL Sports Foundation as the main sponsor of the country’s contingent for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics and next year’s Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
The company will spend eight crore rupees
According to the IOA, the agreement with MPL is for one-and-a-half years, ending on December 31 next year. For this, the company will spend eight crore rupees. Along with this, the IOA has also agreed to sponsor Amul, the milk products giant, for the Tokyo Olympics to be held from July 23 to August 8.
The IOA has signed this agreement after cancelling the agreement with Chinese sports apparel maker Li Ning. Li Ning was the official kit sponsor of the Indian team for the Tokyo Olympics and the country’s athletes will wear unbranded apparel during the Games following the cancellation of the agreement.
