Olympians and Paralympians to be SAI’s coaches

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) is ready to appoint Olympians and Paralympians as coaches and assistant coaches at its various National Centers of Excellence.
SAI has taken this step in recognition of his contribution for which the process has started in which posts have been made for 23 assistant coaches and four coaches.
Medalists can apply
According to the statement issued by SAI, Olympians and Paralympians are eligible to apply as assistant coaches and medalists can apply directly for coach positions which fall under Group A posts.
According to the statement, if athletes who are still active and want to continue their playing career, then Olympians and Paralympians appointed to the post of coaches will be allowed to continue their training as long as they maintain the performance at the international level.
Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “The Ministry of Sports and SAI has been a constant effort to recognize the achievements of our sports heroes and also to ensure that they can live a life of honour and comfort.”
“The government’s decision to employ Olympians and Paralympians is a way of appreciating their service to the country as well as attracting the best talent for coaching from sports. Coaches are very important for sports and we need to appoint the best players as coaches,” he said.
